wow, the lag is real

Some say you can't torture somebody if you empathize with the object. But if you're indifferent about the object, then it doesn't matter to you if you torture or just kill him, and just killing him is faster and less bothersome. If you can't empathize with the object, torture is pointless.

Different cause is if you actually has some objective to complete, like getting some information out of somebody, or you just follow orders.

It's probably something like extreme sports. Like jumping with a parachute, it's like falling to your death for a long time, except not dying at the end. And this is like feeling extreme stress, except without losing any of your limbs and such. Probably torturing and being tortured ain't that much different.

Steven Rapeyverse, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love to Fuse
E;R

review of what "steven universe" is. Come for mah cartoons, get american politics. I'm trying really hard to forget this country exists.

I remember hearing nostalgia critic complimenting a long list of things about this show, and sneaking "gay relationships" in there, and I was like whaaaaaaaa, and pretty much forgot about it for like 4 years.

Then I heard a parody of one of the songs in Dragon Ball Abridged.

All I wanna be
is a dad who get's to see
a super sayan~
a SUPER SAyan~

I quite enjoyed that.

Then I heard an undertale clip. I though the fans themselves made this song, but I guess not. "Stronger than you". youtube:QVtueVhHV9I . Lyrics are kind of embarrassing to listen to, but that's the point, and voice is quite good. Drawn pretty good too, I can see he's a skilled artist, even if he didn't took time to finish everything.

People keep complaining about "community this", "community that". They just don't know how to filter things. My pretty much only contact with undertale fanbase was when I watched a compilation of undertale animations. I just took the best part of this and went on my way.

Poor nostalgia critic, is he allright right now? Making videos for the internet seems like the stupidest career choice. AVGN is in a better position, because he doesn't take it seriously, he's just so good that with little effort he makes great videos.

This show is well drawn, for a cartoon. Things in there almost look human. Well, it got it's fans, what do I care. But that review is hilariously horrifying.

Don't make me make any political statement or decisions, I'm just a little internet junkie, I don't care about anything.

---

it sure is boring here...

need to start writing my own text editor. Maybe tomorrow. I'm starting to think, that the best way to start doing this is to stop doing everything else for at least a hour/day.

Found where the extra stage in amayui is. Yeah, will do that. Need to backup my saves, they are in C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Eushully\天結いキャッスルマイスター . Yeah, no way I'm resisting this.

Also, cleared hotline miami 2. Now playing hard mode, i need to get to subway level on hard. I really like the music in this level, but on normal I clear the level too quickly, and for majority of the song I just stand outside the map doing nothing. As vinny put it, "this song is axiom verge levels of weird". Also read wiki on this game, so many details I missed, for example I didn't knew I could read newspapers there. The controls in this game are kinda weird, it's really hard to aim, it's like it was made for controllers (mouse cursor follows character and sometimes goes offscreen, wow). But the rest is damn good. The amount of blood is just silly as well. Check "alien shooter" as well, controls much better, also awesome music.

stumbled upon artist:"ootsuka mahiro$" again, damn it he's good. Found my comment from 2013 there, talk about time capsule. His non-h one was the best thing I've read in a while, and it's from a freaking 2002, really?

You probably don't understand what this means.

There was a period in my life when instead of posting links to stuff, I instead posted date of what I'm looking at. It mostly kept at around two years to the past, sometimes one month or a few days to the past, and once it jumped all the way to 1960 I think, the release of Peter Pan cartoon by disney. Imagine if between you saying something and receiving a response there is always a 2 year lag. Maybe I should start using actual twitter instead.

Clearing amayui extra bit by bit. Do you know what amayui is, have you read this thread?

My program right now is just one .c file. Wonder if I should split it up into separate files, but then I'll have to care about writing "#include" and "extern".

Hey guys, wanna know hotline miami 2 file format?

https://github.com/pollyzoid/hlm2-wad-extract/blob/master/hlm2-wad-extract/Program.cs

https://www.reddit.com/r/HotlineMiami/comments/2ylnxa/made_a_program_to_extract_hlm2_data_files/

pfffff

hmm, and here's the hotline miami 1 extractor. The c language sure is less readable than c#.

https://github.com/notandy/hotline-miami-extract/blob/master/extract.c

I wish I knew amayui saves format. Considering how expandable this game is, really makes me curious.

wait, MODDING hotline miami? Don't tell me I can fix those shitty controls!

>Yandere: Don't try to break up with someone with the Evil trait, and in 2, don't ignore them, and don't give them the impression that you're unfaithful. One of the darker ways to get a game over.

oh boy, this game is serious about it!

In koikatu there is also a yandere, and it's the funniest shit ever. She talks like a cliche yandere from the very first lines, which doesn't make any sense. Looks like she's just all talk, this game is chill, noone is missing yet I think. She's a nice and silly girl, that forgives cats interferring.

Trying to understand how this koikatu game works is the best part about this. https://wiki.anime-sharing.com/hgames/index.php?title=Koikatu/Gameplay/H_Guide . I want my porn complicated. Still, "Hizashi no Naka no Riaru" (wow, I at least remembered first 2 words) and "that one that starts at the bar" are better, they feel like holding something alive in your hands.

It's nicely done, looks good, cell shading that actually looks good, eyes get drawn on top of hair, perfection. Need to be carefull with lighting, overwise their chins look ugly. Also badly optimized, 'cause c# and unity, thinking about buying ssd just for this game.

This game tended to cause an erection when I remembered about it outside the house, the in-game situations are damn good. When I remembered amayui I was like "okay, next I will capture enough angels to upgrade all my familiars, I will do it like that, that and that". When I was remembered that... how was it... "美少女万華鏡 罪と罰の少女", I was like "wow, never seen two characters so madly in love with each over, or whatever it was, flirt? teasing? lust? Really want to know what happens with them next, this is next level". And when I remembered koikatu, I was like "Okay, remember how yesterday I saw that girl with long blue hair on the first floor, how she standed hands on table and ass back, with love and horny stats maxed? How I talked to her, she confessed to me, and we banged right there in the same posi... FUCK NOT HERE, THINK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE". I had to stop playing it.

Recently played it again for like 5 days, figured out what everything does. After you seen all animations, you'd want to know characters more, and they are knee deep. All that waits ahead of you is more porn, exactly same porn. So boring. In sengoku rance, we counquered and united a country together, in amayui we walked to the holy ground on a walking fortress, and overthrew 4 kings in the process, and in koikatu we... do homework together? Good things that most of these characters are either really generic, or almost exact copies/placeholders of other copyrighted characters, so in a way they ain't stuck in this limbo of a game and kind of exist in other works, through not exactly the same. Lol, it's like "we banged and you're really sexy, now who are you again?". And talking after sex is kinda late, most of the time they just "hey, how about I call you darling from now on?" over and over, you need to talk to them before that if you need to understand who the fuck they are, and even then they mostly talk about generic stuff, through not always. The fact that I understand only 30% of what they are saying doesn't help much either. I read their traits on wiki, but don't understand what those stats mean.

The "untalkative" one is my favorite, she's just so adorable it's unbelievable. She actually got 2 variants by developers, one is pretty generic but with some special piece of clothing, and one with gorgeous long hair, the most eye catching of them all. The "skintanned" one (but not gyaru) is an energetic one that likes sports, but she's surprisingly panicky in bed. The one with her eyes always covered, her manner of speaking got kinda annoying after a while, she isn't sure about anything. The "yandere", is just a big dumb dumb, she's like a kid playing around. She's also the easiest one to raise stats. And she surprisingly doesn't mind not using condoms and cumming inside of her on her first sex ever, on her dangerous day. Wow this girl. I almost want to be killed after that. The "lazy" slowtalking one, super chill, didn't had anything with her. The cheerful one, just like her voice, that's it. Most of them are just very polite, but slightly different in one way or another. One of them had interesting reaction to lewd talk, she's like "what's that? I don't know anything about it, will you teach me?". And I'm like "(we must protect this purity)". Heh.

What did I do during my school years? Learned? Fucking retard. Bwahahaha.

---

>>cut her feet off
>>tell her she has 10 seconds to leave the room or she will die
>>watch her crawl and stumble away in pure agony as you count slowly
>what games let me do this?

Why this makes me laugh? It's better with context, I guess.

this reminded me:

that last commenter at around 4:43 has best sense of humor ever. And that guy has best laugh ever. And greatest delivery ever. Most of the video is, dunno, kinda hurts. I prefer to see people awesome, and that guy was.

---

I expect everything to go to shit in a few years, I need to backup as much as I can from the internet and go offline for a few years. This is my kind of greed, I don't want what I don't have, but I don't want to lose something I have.

I'm always on a losing side. If something goes good and I agree, I keep silent. If something goes bad and I agree, I keep silent. If something is going great and I really hate it, I don't complain (mostly) and keep silent. If something is unfairly forgotten, I link it here. Best of the best, worst of the worst, boriest of the boring, and as compact and repetition free as possible. Except I don't work for free, it's not like I like you or anything.

so much shit to remember, for a guy who can't remember a single name

Okay, started splitting program into files.

Instead of one file, there are now 4.

gallery-direct3d9.cpp
main.h
mem.cpp
mem.h

gallery-direct3d9.cpp:
Code:
#include "mem.h"
#include "main.h"
...and the rest

main.h:
Code:
#pragma once

void FUCK();
void warn(const char* string);

mem.cpp:
Code:
#include "stdafx.h"
#include "main.h"

//VAR

void* g_alloc_base; //not sure why exactly i keep this around...
void* g_alloc_next;
DWORD* g_alloc_free;

//stack
//dword prev

//void* g_alloc_border;
//void* g_alloc_gaps = 0; //array

//used by memget100
void* g_alloc_next100;

//FUNC

void* memget_noreuse() {
        void* res;
        DWORD free = (DWORD)g_alloc_next;
        g_alloc_next = (char*)g_alloc_next + 0x1000;
        res = VirtualAlloc(
                (void*)free,

                g_alloc_next100 = memget();
        }

mem.h

void* memget_noreuse();
void memget_guard(const char* string);

//VAR

extern void* g_alloc_base;
extern void* g_alloc_next;
extern DWORD* g_alloc_free;
extern void* g_alloc_next100;

---

pff, just noticed. Did I really put "FUCK()" after return? What did I expect? No, I'll delete them completely. Probably was debugging these functions, and it was left since then.

oh boy, one of them I'll leave, but replace with __debugbreak(); . I know myself, if an error will show up, I'll just close the program completely. And this one isn't even an error, it's just a rare occurence I want to see for myself.

Also changed the Linker->Output option

it was $(OutDir)$(TargetName)$(TargetExt)
which evaluated to C:\shared\src\_gui\gallery-direct3d9-wip\Debug\gallery-direct3d9.exe

now it's
$(SolutionDir)$(TargetName)$(TargetExt)
and
$(SolutionDir)$(TargetName)_debug$(TargetExt)

aaaaaand this was wrong, i got a warning "targetpath doesn't match outputfile"

instead, in "General" (the very very first configuration category) change those:
Output Directory
was
$(SolutionDir)$(Configuration)\
now
$(SolutionDir)

and for Debug:
Target Name
was
$(ProjectName)
now
$(ProjectName)_debug

now this works

also, renamed gallery-direct3d9.sln to _gallery-direct3d9.sln, and now it can't find jpeglib.h and every change I did to the project options is undone? Oh wait, I see, it switched to 64 release instead of 32 without me noticing.

now this works, for reals. Added shortcut to gallery-direct3d9_debug.exe on my desktop, because visual studio takes forever to load. Well, like 10 seconds, but it's still a lot in some cases.

aaand that's enough for today.

guys, have you paid to any charity? My guts are telling me that it's an incredibly shady thing. Listen to yt=o9yZSADLcxg 53:21 , something just tells me this guy is full of shit, he's trying to push emotions way too hard instead of giving any facts. Like some kind of pope. I thought vinny was better than that. Nah, I always thought that vinny is an asshole who shits on games for the fun of others. The worst part, he put this shit at the end of letsplay of one of the best modern games, so he both in a way steals content, and in a way puts ads in it. I'll ignore it and let them have other people's money, because indirectly I gain from this as well, it's not like I alone can support any of his shows.

Americans are actually quite cool, they are going in the direction of good gooder and goodest for everyone everywhere. They are just confused at what the "goodest" is.

Hm, was the author of Python american? Dutch, I see. Author of C? Yep, american. See, you are great half of the time.

Okay, so much stuff to do. I want to do so many things, but finishing text editor is first priority. I can't just spam on forums forever.

After that, find how to generate thumbnails from big images, find how to read binary data and utf-8 strings with firefox extensions, make your gallery fucking work without editing things in the source code to change the directory, learn how youtube-dl works, save youtube-dl metadata properly, integrate youtube-dl into a youtube and pornhub pages (i'm too lazy to copy url into command line), integrate youtube-dl into mpc-hc properly (i want to switch to audio only on the fly, and navigate to the middle of the video, and automatically save the video I watch on hdd).

>The animation is better too. If you know anything about the anime industry you'll see 99 has a top tier staff while 2011's best moments is when that same came to work in the series.

yeah, 1999 version looks better than 2011 to me. I dunno, I can't take 5 minutes of new version, while old one is actually intriguing. Probably because I notice every little thing in animation, like how they used 2 layers for clouds, one layer for airship, and 2 halftransparent layers quickly changing between each other for propellers. Or how they cut away the moment where they had to animate a large amount of fur (in the first episode, where they tried to push that beast's corpse into the grave). I dunno, I just enjoy every frame of the older version.

not going to watch neither version right now. You know, as a kid, I watched monstrosity like watch?v=D7n5YSJhZiQ without complaining. Comparing to that, 2011 version is a mona lisa. (La Brigada de los Sepultureros is actually kinda ok, it's better than what I watch on youtube either way).

BAKEMONOGATARI etc. -1
ImoodyI_-_Springtime.mp4

I know that carmack said that "plot in video games is like plot in porn - not really necessary". But, what do you prefer to do: rush and gun through an mars colony overthrown by a legion of demons, or click red squares 'till they disappear? Doom has plot, but it doesn't have text or dialogue.

All good hmv have plot. They are pretty much "hentai abridged". And this ImoodyI_-_Springtime.mp4 has plot too, told only through visuals, incredible. It may be not clear if you haven't heard of that "monkey palm" thing, I guess it's some folklore from somewhere. Ah, "The Monkey's Paw", I see.

does anybody even follows any of those links

i think i understood why youtube thumbnails lagged for me. Probably that browser loaded flash for them, and it took time to load for the first time.

maybe tomorrow i'll start making all my freaking tools? Now I have more time, probably.

i really like what he tells about game difficulty, this is a trap that zun fell into. Well, it doesn't made them worse, they are just very hard to get into. Personally I find them boring, you do an incredibly long stage to practice that one part that you suck at. Somebody should add savestates into them.

I know that carmack said that "plot in video games is like plot in porn - not really necessary". But, what do you prefer to do: rush and gun through an mars colony overthrown by a legion of demons, or click red squares 'till they disappear? Doom has plot, but it doesn't have text or dialogue.
Carmack sounds very short-sighted. There's plenty of games where plot is required because they are all about immersion (e.g. most RPGs). They also tend to be my most favorite games to play, not necessarily the RPG part, but the immersion part.

At least for single-player games (or coop), obviously.

Heh, I know of it from a creepypasta.

I guess what he meant, is that lots of dialogue isn't necessary and will actually hurt pacing. A pretty good understanding actually.

And I'm just being a smartass and trying to clarify the meaning of the word "plot".

You watched this amv yet? How is it?

Programming is very hard to stop, and very hard to start as well. It takes me 3 days to remember what the fuck I was doing before I stopped all this, after pause. Probably I'm just retarded, dunno. Being distracted by everything in the world doesn't help either.

How do you guys read this thread? Just open from time to time, or use email subscription of some sort? I tend to edit my post a lot, instead of just adding new and new posts, this is my analogue of "sage". Those edits probably don't show up in email.

hm, looking for hunter x hunter 1999 torrent. I could watch it on youtube, if I didn't care about both encoding and preserving.

the first one has english episode cards, but the next one has japanese episode cards, i prefer the latter. You can see them at 11:51.

[EncoderAnon] Hunter x Hunter 1999 01-62 [H264 AC3]

description:
This comes as an alternative take at restoring/remastering the 99' DVDs. S-A's way was heavy noise reduction and sharpening, which combined with low-bitrate encoding, was pretty bad espatially in early episodes. I chose not to use NR at all to protect the film grain and whatever little detail is in there and went with contrast and colour corrections. I assume the DVDs come from the broadcast telecine with no mastering at all, hence the huge differences in colours between episodes. This can also be suspected by the various film artifacts and damage here and there + the film cut and joins between scenes on top and bottom (commonly confused for vhs noise). Generally though the DVDs with no edit look even worse than S-A. Most of the episodes are ~400-450mb though in yorkshin the DVD quality improves dramaticaly and so does the filesize. R1 DVDs + clean OPs and EDs from R2s kindly provided by another anon. Colour correction was not always used but in the first 20-25 episodes was used a lot. Generally episodes 2-9 were shit and the quality begins to rise at the end of the hunter exam, where even then there were some shitty looking episodes here and there, depending on the animation team. The subtitles were taken from S-A who basically used the dvd subs but did some "cosmetic" touches like adding the sighns etc. Enjoy! Codec: x264 High@3.2 8bit avc Audio: AC3 @ 192kbps Some pics and comparison between the S-A http://imgur.com/a/kmMQR http://imgur.com/a/6ZrJp

(have no idea what S-A, NR, R1, R2 mean)
(S-A is the translator)

Hunter x Hunter (1999)

description:
This is my personal re-rip of the Hunter x Hunter 1999 DVDs in 2000 kbps, h264/aac, high profile. The source was already this grainy, but all the detail is still there at this bit-rate. Only applied a "light" denoise filter to OVA 1. The empty black sides were trimmed, this is why the TV series is only 700x480 and OVA 1-2 are 704x480, OVA 3 is full size. Subtitles are in separate files, use a player that supports it. Episodes 1-62 were translated by s-a, the rest is more or less the original a-k, akf, aone release. Found them on some Russian subtitle site. Re-timed them in MPC, which removed the comments and changed headers, sorry about that. The ending of episodes 51-52 should be "Hotaru", but on the DVD it was still "Do You Feel Like I Feel". Hope you are not that picky. Extra clips could not be detelecined, converted them to 59.97 fps. No subtitles for those. If you are wondering why I did not use h265. There was no visible difference and at lower sizes both codecs started showing quality loss. Enjoy, or hope for a blu-ray release in the future!

(apparently s-a is a nickname of the translator, just like a-k, afk and aone)

[EncoderAnon & xPearse] Hunter x Hunter 1999 Episodes 01-62 [English] [Dual Audio]

Since AnimeBytes (muh rules and they also said just "no" when I PM'd them about it) won't allow this due to it being a re-encode even though it shaves off 12gb from the original release at minimal quality loss while also adding the dub, it'll only be available on here. In any case, yeah, I re-encoded EA's release, but there was no point in downloading the DVDs and doing my own since the only problem with EA's release was that it was missing the dub and that it was bloated for an old anime that isn't in the best quality to begin with. Anyhow, you should enjoy this, but if there are any problems with this release such as the dub not 100% sync'd right in an episode, then send me a message or comment here and I'll get right on fixing it. Other than that, do enjoy. See ya!

>>bloated for an old anime

>You don’t know what you’re tallking about. Old anime usually requires more bitrate than new anime (at the same resolution on dvd or even with less horizontal resolution on BD). They’re less compressible because to retain details, grain is necessary, and because of diffences in colors between frames (they’re hand-painted) and sometimes shaky “camera”

hm... is grain really that necessary? Like, tv artifacts have that much value to you?

---

holy fuck those "the film cut and joins between scenes on top and bottom" are annoying! And it's so easy to get rid of those too nowadays!

okay, my plan is,

1) download the "unedited raw dvd" from somewhere
2) write a script that will take this top/bottom pieces from previous/next frame. Will probably wouldn't work as smooth for moving scenes, but so far most of them are static
3) repeat all the things those uploaders above have described

sure sounds like a lot of work. Well, I have a few years to complete this. Very low priority.

---

let's watch one episode per day, and not like I usually do. Original aired once per week, I believe. They are very self contained, at least the first episode is.

programming question

I have this in my program:
Code:
const int text_warn_max = 5;
char* text_warn[text_warn_max] = { 0 };

How to create a header for this? I tried this:

Code:
extern const int text_warn_max;
extern char* text_warn[text_warn_max];

and it says:
Quote:
text_warn[text_warn_max]
expression must have a constant value

---

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2190919/mixing-extern-and-const

the most popular answer doesn't answer my question, but the one with "C++17 inline variables" sort of does.

hmm, what to do...

I have main.cpp and nonmain.cpp, and they both need to know that text_warn_max is 5. Should I just add this in both? What if I'll edit one, but forgot to edit another?

---

...i'll just stop splitting my program for now... It will only complicate my life in the long run. When the text editor will be done, I will be able to hide parts of the code.

what I do most of my time, is breaking borders. Uniting browser with video player. Uniting browser with explorer. Making borders just feels stupid.

I need a firefox proxy on/off button. Need to do too much movements to switch proxy off and on.

Found this:

https://ozzie.io/

https://github.com/ian-ozzie/QuickProxy

it's not on their site anymore (last update 2010).

I guess I'll use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxyproxy-standard/

Older Firefox Versions
Install FoxyProxy 4.6.5. from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxyproxy-standard/versions/
Note: 4.6.5 is not maintained.

aaah, it's not there either!

https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/foxyproxy-standard/

ok, this should work!

aaah, much better. Now I can see if proxy is on or off without doing 5 clicks. I'm very afraid of doing something that involves my credit card with this proxy on by accident.

right click, options, global settings, toolbar activation, left-click, toggle between current mode and disabled

perfect! It bugged me for probably 2 months. Finally took time to google for a bit.

aaaand new version doesn't work with .pac urls. Good job firefox. I guess I'll use proxy from palemoon only from now on.

>Due to several Firefox bugs, PAC, WPAD, and System Settings are not yet supported

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1396485

there is probably some reason for this, i'm not that angry at them

Nah, I still strongly disagree. Many RPGs have about 5% combat, 95% dialogue, and that's the whole point of them. Wink In some of them you can even skip all combat and confrontation at all with proper dialogue, if you know how to persuade NPCs.

idk, the link you gave requires me to sign up for something and I won't because I'm tired of having a million accounts so I try to avoid signups like the plague if possible.

The array needs to have a constant size. text_warn_max is not known because you never defined its value, only declared it. The compiler doesn't know its value (the linker will know it) so what size should it give the array?

Solutions:

Since it's an integer, you can use a typed enum:
Code:
enum : int { text_warn_max = 5 };
(you can change the int to something else, it's default anyway but here for illustration purposes)

Or you can use C++17 inline variables:
Code:
inline const int text_warn_max = 5;

Or you can use a #define but that's ugly because it will pollute the entire token namespace. Yuck.
