Rasm vs Fasm
assembler time to compile itself #passes #lines lines/second

Rasm 0.181 seconds 7 29357 1,135,353 <-- fastest of the world
(rasm its database contains about 65000 labels! becouse of the big windows equates include file)
Fasm 0.296 seconds 6 47166 956,067 <-- second fastest of the world
These are the only 2 free open-source assemblers that can compile themselves that i know about!
(except Rosasm... which is awkward)
Note:The author of Fasm warns that Fasm may become slower in the future.
Rasm on the other hand will keep its speed or become faster.(Guaranteed by Rocketsoft!)
I greatly reduced the efford of producing an assembler by leaving out a lot of things...
- Preprocessing of normal assembler lines is not done by Rasm
- Only integer and fpu instructions (not even MMX)... guaranteeing a large user base
I strongly advise not to use new instructions!
- no structures (although they would be easy to add)
- no procedures
- no library format
- no object format
- as flat as possible (which is very flat indeed)
