Unfortunately IQ results are really only good for showing what someone scored on the IQ test. They don't seem to correlate to any real job requirements or performance abilities IME.
I've heard that high IQ just means that you're quicker on the uptake. But like you said that has little to do with if people use the gift they've been given and even if they are able to go faster that doesn't mean that they're guaranteed to go into the right direction, right?
