Because of the following URL specifier with the brackets this post does not show.

See that above post. The content is not actually blank but the forum shows it as blank. Use "quote" (or "Edit" if your have that) to see the actual content. You can replace the bracket characters with %28 and %29 to show the content.

May I suggest a forum software upgrade? phpbb3 is nice but if your worried about it being to heavy you could always switch to punbb using a SQL database table converter...

Just a thought though...

IMHO, it is because of security. Maybe the brackets in the URL are interpreted as a JavaScript function call.

Well phpbb3 (this forums software successor) allows it... So if so it was improved due to more and more use of brackets in URLs...

But as I understand it bb code is interpreted into plain text with a php interpreter, if its not valid bb code then it is just text.
