These .com intro demos were downloaded at:
http://256bytes.untergrund.net/demo/latest
so if you find something interesting here, you can download the zip
and you might get a DOS box config file, or sound blaster info ?
My DOS stuff here doesn't have much sound going on.
I don't even have a SB driver loaded when I test them,
I have to reboot too much, & the .COMs never get the PORT values correct,
so they don't work anyway.

I did not write these DEMO.COMs but I did check them all for a virus, or
harmfull code. Using Bitdogs DIS.COM disassembler I search each.com for INT
and checked Ralf Browns Int List for INT 21h FILE manipulation code.
 and there was none.

I did fix exit code for a clean exit in DOS as best I could. ESC exits.
DIS.com produces code that Fasm assembles immediately to the same bytes as
the original.com so it was an easy hack on most of them.

I did alter the key press from ESC key pressed, that causes KBD buffer full
halt+beeping, to ESC key released, which results in ONE PUSH
and when it can exit, it does exit. IN AL,60h | CMP AL,129 | JZ EXIT

I did run them all on a 100% DOS 6+ computer, CPUID f29 3 ghz Northwood p4 cpu
and they did good enough to be kinda trouble free.
Some alter the defaults and don't run the same the second time.
Some other .COMs reset the defaults, then they do run ok again, once.

BOB.com was not included, it was crappy and insisted on copy write.
BUMP.com changes size with different keys pressed, ESC exits. = COOL....
String search for ~~ to find the unique needs for the .COM files below.

Below is the basic info that came in the zip,
if there wasn't an.ASM file to hold the info.
Sorry all the greets and other bulk info was not included here.

If you want the source code for the demo.COMs that don't have an .ASM
in the \ASMs\directory
use !DIS.com disassembler found among the demo.com files.

Note, at first, i was not dir listing the .zip or .com files, cuz
the .ZIPs basename was the same as the .COMs that is listed.
If not, i named the .ZIP in the info below.
Then later, they all got a dir list, but I started renameing the .COM
basename to match the .ZIP name, so the .zip could be found
& updated if needed. It's a work in progress.
While doing the best i can without help, it evolved.

The plus sideis: Here is another 500+ intro.COMs that work in DOS.
Easy point and click in NC.exe 4u.

Sincerely Bitdog4u

& greets to all MIDI enthusiasts.

Sorry Rrrola this demo was so good I made it FASM user friendly for DOS.
Fasm converted = fc.exe = same.
Assembly Switches for all options you had.
Added clean exit code option.
Changed Vsync, mov dl,0xDA to mov dx,0x03DA
CMP AL,219 ;ESC key released exits the program now.
I Formatted the .asm & kept your credits.
Thanks for the demo.com man, it's great.....
& I'm probably speaking for many people who will enjoy it. New options are:
KBDon     = 0 ;0= off, keyboard doesn't change visuals.
SNDon     = 1 ;1= play MPU 401 sound. (0=off = a 199 byte.com)
FASTmusic = 0 ;0= off, is a standard relaxing music speed.
VSYNCon = 1 ;0= fast screen refresh rate, gets all the effects shown quickly
EXITclean = 1 ;1= reset DOS default video mode 3 at the programs exit.
;"01011" = difuze1.com is what i like. (shows the cool transitions also)
;"00001" = difuze2.com quietly shows all the effects quickly.

Some disco-ish thing.
It's all about the dynamics,
better watch it in native dos or with fast dos emulation.
It's too slow in DOSBox.
Also check disco_2.com for slower dos machines.

So, U'll find that this'z a pleasant 256 byte intro - da first one I have
ever coded. It'z a great trick, try 2 analyze it, maybe U can ;o.
Finally I optimized it 4 brainfuck deepness :)
and I had some empty space 2 recalculate
the fractal-hypertexturez at da master introloop,
 I have done some palette smoothing & precalc optimizing;
and check out the DANGBIRD signal at the beginning. Great, isn't it?
Finally I smoothed the whole display.
Well, da intro coding didn't take so much time
I made it yes2day afternoon, and I finished the lastestestest ;)
version 2day morning. So it took about 6-8 hourz 2 complete this production.

If da stuff borez U, 4 quitting just knock any key, 'coz the masterloop iz
endless - az I meant upper. (Check out that I still had some place 2 make da
keyboard buffer empty!)

This production'z dedicated 2 those who have called me a lamer.
CAN YOU DO THE SAME, DUDEZ??!!

Possible bugs:
The wait for vertical retrace may fail on some weird computers.

Technical stuff:
The reason to why the intro isn't fullscreen is that the water
buffers are made up of words, 256*128*2 = 64k so that
I don't have to change segment during the water calculations ;)

The are some obvious optimization left to do, like using ret
to terminate, but I find it safer to use int 20h, which is just
one byte larger. I do also want the intro to look nice, not
	just to be small.

To all lamers:
I know it's easy to change the text... Don't get any ideas.

Some greets to random people. Everyone involved in The Torrent Project.

Note, You got hacked!
ESC key released was substituted in the exit code,

Coding indicates a talented programmer, so the .txt is probably a good read.

SerzhSoft / TM
GrantDay 256 bytes intro
(special for DemoBit'2000)
crazy code, idea and design by Kolotov Sergey (aka SerzhSoft) January, 2000
serzhsoft@mail.ru
Big hello to all friends!
And very amazing greetings to my code-compos-opponent Baze^3SC!!!

I must kill your 256 bytes intro, he-he! :)
It's a small e-story about us, about students of the Wide World!

Note, I was messing with the code and didn't make it any better.
But I did make an .asm that assembled and worked using Candymans qdd32.exe
disassembler found in the flatassembler DOS forum. Down load for free.
The outfile was altered by Bitdogs DISn.com	(free there also)
So it's here at: source\grantday.asm

Note, qdd32.exe does not try to get the assembled version to be identical to
the original .com like DIS.com does.

Note, I used DIS.com to alter grandday.com's key press check from
	(ESC pressed) to
(ESC released) so it would work.
Everything else is the same, but it cost 1 byte increase in size.
There was no source code in the original .zip file.
